When I first saw the cover of the book, I was curious about the skulls and bones drawn on it. He reminded Amy and Dan to trust no one because they were already fooled by their uncle last time. When they did it, no one had fooled them and they became the leading team in finding the 39 clues. They trusted their uncle Alistair’ Oh that’s why the Poor Richard Almanac was stolen from them but in the middle, they brought it back from their Uncle and they started to trust no one. I have learned that in a quest like a deadly serious business, you have to ‘trust no one’ because in the story that was what Amy and Dan did. They thought of their parents and they used it as their inspirations to be strong and to continue on the quest. First, they thought that it was written in different language but Dan had guessed that it was an anagram, so they scrambled the letters until they got it. They used their intelligence to solve the clues and some logic just like when they got the second clue. They bravely faced every obstacle and conflict came. I think these words will best describe the meaning of the story because those characteristics are what the main characters, Amy and Dan, have. The story shows bravery, intelligence and strength. Their next adventure will be in Vienna, Austria because it is where Amadeus Mozart lives and the second clue includes him. Fortunately they have had got away from those evils and they continue on finding information until they found the second clue in an underground. During their stay there, other team tried to set them in a trap because the book of an Almanac which is the only lead in the quest, was in them. They travelled to Paris because the first clue led them there.

It's too bad because Egypt is such an exciting place for a treasure hunt.The story I read was “The Maze of Bones” which is series one of the book “The 39 Clues”. There's no logical flow from one clue to the next and the way the kids figure out some of the puzzles makes no sense. Once again this installment doesn't hold a candle to the first in the series. Lucky for them their grandma has left numerous hints around Cairo and the tombs. Also, the puzzles leading to the clues are confusing and the romantic subplot feels clumsily put together.ĭan and Amy Cahill work their way through Egypt in the fourth installment. The book starts and ends with fun flourishes and twists but it also gets to the heart of what the four Cahill branches are really fighting over - and it's not all that original. The third installment sends the Cahills to Japan and Korea and teams up Amy and Dan with ruthless relatives Ian and Natalie Kabra. It overshadows their talents and makes you wonder how they're able to stay ahead of the competition. Dan won't stop whining about how boring he thinks Mozart is and the two won't stock bickering. But the brother-sister team seems less likable here. And it keeps you guessing about how the clues will fit together. The second installment keeps moving like the first - from Vienna to Salzburg to Venice this time.

But as long as the writing is good and the story is fun, who cares? And Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series, knows how to pace a story.
It's clearly intended to make money, and a little more baldly than most. That done, it's loads of fun, with action, mysteries, and clues. Sure, you have to park your disbelief at the door and give up on any expectation of realism. Taken simply as a story, this first book is pretty good.
